Not since the Cold War era has Landguard Fort kept something this secret!

It was weeks in the planning until the fort hosted the outside broadcast team from Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway on the evening of 2nd April 2022, when hundreds of local people were invited to find the Secret Sofa and get the chance to win a luxury holiday.

ITV Productions approached the fort to be the outside broadcast host back in January, and the broadcast was originally planned for 26th March (when the fort was closed to the public) but was moved to the 2nd April at the last minute, meaning that the fort had to close to the public that day so that the broadcast could be kept top-secret.

About 300 lucky contestants made it into the fort for the broadcast, with the lucky holiday winner selected at random by Alan Partridge (Steve Coogan) on live television.
