Volunteers Wanted

The Landguard Volunteers are the mainstay for the running of the Fort and without them Landguard would not function. The Fort that you see today has been lovingly repaired, restored and maintained by a valuable team of volunteers and we are always keen to welcome new members.

There are plenty of things to do to keep the Fort running smoothly, whether you fancy helping out for a few hours a week or a few days a week we would love to hear from you.

We are always looking for volunteers in be involved in welcoming and looking after all our visitors during the open summer months, along with running the shop and the ticket office. They are all very important jobs that ensure everyone enjoys their visit and return time and time again. Tours of the Fort take place regularly and we are looking for volunteers to join this team so we can enhance the experience for our visitors.

Alongside this there are a wide variety of ongoing maintenance and decoration projects and we welcome volunteers of all abilities to join our team. We are continuously researching the history of the Fort and are keen to be able to present a full and accurate account how the Fort has evolved to our visitors. We are continuously updating and designing new displays for the Fort and creative ideas and input are very appreciated.

Promoting the Fort is another key area that volunteers are heavily involved in. The visitor numbers are increasing year on year thanks to the efforts of the entire team.
