Eleanor Cleasby- Yarn

Working with photography, Eleanor documents the visual displays presented at the fort; rooms left as they were during the First World War and the Cold War, when they last served a function. Yarn is an excavation of the overlooked, ignored, or rejected aspects of our national and local history and architecture. It explores traces of lost history and how historical accounts evolve and are re-interpreted over time, filling in the gaps with fictional stories, blurring the boundaries between fact and fiction. Eleanor will also be sharing her skills with students from local colleges during her residency.
Stuart Bowditch- Bastion

Stuart will create a sound installation using only found, donated or suggested sounds sourced from within the fort and the surrounding penisula. A structure will be made from materials from the penisula and turned in to a tactile speaker through which the sound will be played. The fibre and space of the building itself will determine how the sound will be heard and felt.
Stuart will be recording, documenting and talking to the public over the spring and summer months.
Walk of Sound: Saturday 9th July, 11am to 1pm
Stuart and the Landguard Ranger, Sarah, will guide you around the fort and penisula, seeking sounds that define the area. You will be introduced to how sound can be recorded and manipulated and will make sound recordings as you travel. Normal fort admission applies. Please book in advance at operations@landguard.com
