Outside Battery Tours
This is a chance for you to gain insight in to the unique military history of the area and the architecture that accompanied it. These tours take place around the Left and Darell's batteries; which are not usually accessible to the public. You will be able to explore the rare features of these buildings, including the unique tressider (an underground carriage) in the Left battery. Your tour will be lead by a Landguard Fort Trust guide who will provide in depth details of the buildings and their history.
Outside tours normally take place every Sunday from the beginning of April to the end of October. Tours commence at 2pm from the main fort entrance. The tour charge is £5.00 which includes entry to the fort for non EH members. The EH member tour charge is £1.50. All tours are subject to cancellation in cases of extreme weather or circumstances beyond the control of Landguard Fort Trust. The Trust also reserves the right to refuse admission. Tours are limited to 15 people and no children are permitted. Please wear suitable footwear. Please note on days when a special Right Battery Tour (see below) is taking place at 2pm, this will take the place of the two battery tour.
Special Tours of the Right Battery (Three Battery Tours)
Throughout the year special tours take place which include the Right Battery. These tours represent a unique opportunity to discover the architecture of this extraordinary structure lead by one of our specialised guides. Access to this battery is restricted so spaces and dates are limited. The tour is at a cost of £7.00 (no concessions) which includes entry to the fort for non EH members. The EH tour charge is £3.50. These tours will be advertised through our events calendar. Please book early through the methods detailed below to avoid dissapointment.
