Jane works with video, creating extraordinary and entrancing animated installations, inspired by the space in which she works. She will use the architectural space of the casemates much as a painter uses a canvas. But instead of brush and pallet, she uses light in the space, captured by camera. Jane explains:
" The exact nature of the work will develop during the residency and will explore 'ghost stories', not so much the stories themselves as their appeal to our common sense notion of 'this is where it happened!'As if historical moments can sink in to the earth and mark it, a kind of spatial dimension of superstition. I too will stage a 'dissappearable' happening in the space..."
The Artist: Jane has shown work internationally, this year exhibiting at the Contemporary Art Centre in Thesoloniki and the Wyspa Art Centre, Gdansk. She has screened her work at the V& A in London and in festivals in Tokyo, Annecy and San Francisco.
