Landguard Photography Competition commences on 1st January 2012 and the final entry date is the 19th July. The top 12 photographs will feature in the Landguard 2013 calender.  The competition is free to enter and there are categories to suit everyone. 

Landguard Fort is hosting a Volunteering Festival on behalf of the Landguard Partnership. This will take place on Saturday 21st April 2012 between 11am -4pm. Entry to the fort will be free on this day and there will be events going on in the fort, Felixstowe Museum and the Nature Reserve. This is a great opportunity to see what is going on at the fort, museum, bird observatory and nature reserve and you will be able  to sign up for volunteering opportunities at the festival. There will also be plenty of other organisations joining in.

One of the earliest battles in the 'Royal Marines' history, namely 'Felixstowe 2nd July  1667'. The last opposed invasion of England at Landguard Fort, against a large numbers of Dutch invaders. We have now formed a close tie with the Royal Marine Associaition (RMA)  . This will be in the form of paintings and models of marine uniforms from 1664-1985. It is through this associaition that next year we hope to have a sepectaular display in 2012 on the 15th July ,  Darell's Day celebration. Watch this space.
